Furthermore, We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort features live music and entertainment regularly, which is another thing you can experience during your golf vacation.

The cost of a golf trip to We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort depends on the season you're planning to go there, as well as on how many rounds of golf you're going to play. If you book your vacation through Golf Trip Junkie, you will have to pay a little over $555 for three nights at the resort, with four rounds of golf included in the price. However, keep in mind that the price can change, so you might have to pay more.

If you're a beginner, you might find playing the golf courses at We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort a little difficult. Nevertheless, the experience will definitely be worth it, as it can greatly help improve your game, and it will be exciting and fun. The Cholla Course offers terrific views and challenging play for both novice and veteran golfers. It is a shorter course but requires more precise shots and club selection. The course has a good variety of holes and is very playable for all levels of golfers.

As for the Saguaro Course, it features gorgeous views of the surrounding landscape and incorporates the typical characteristics of a desert course while maintaining a traditional, walkable feel. It opens with a strong, dogleg left 443-yard par 4 that plays downhill on the tee shot with a 170-yard forced carry over the desert. The architect did a great job mixing short and long par fours, and this is clear early when you arrive at the reachable 299-yard 2nd hole.

Yes, a weekend getaway at We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort is definitely worth it if you're a golf aficionado. We-Ko-Pa is a premier destination that you shouldn't skip when visiting the Scottsdale area. The two mesmerizing golf courses at the resort offer a challenging yet fun experience. Designed by Scott Miller in 2001, the Cholla Course is in the top 10 among public courses in golf-rich Arizona, making it a must-play. While the golf architect doesn't hold the same name recognition as Coore and Crenshaw, his design stands tall next to its more famous neighbor.

The Saguaro Course focuses on the walking golfer in its routing through the elevation changes, making it a more difficult walk than the flat courses in the valley. It was designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw in 2006. The visuals and hole designs rival any course in the greater Scottsdale area, and the conditioning is fantastic. Both courses feature movement in the topography, which allows for superior hole designs and visuals compared to the flat courses in Arizona's desert. Therefore, if you're an avid golfer, We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort should be a bucket list destination.

The signature hole of the Saguaro Course is the 538-yard par 5 14th hole. The best risk/reward par five on the course is this uphill hole that features two separate fairways. A tee shot to the island fairway on the right will considerably reduce the length of the hole and requires players to go for the green in two.

The signature hole of the Cholla Course is the 432-yard par 4 18th hole. Cholla's dramatic downhill closing hole is challenging and scenic. While a tee shot of 285 yards from the back tee will run out of the fairway, 300 yards will get you into the water. The last 100 yards of the fairway are flanked by a pond on the right, with a bunker resting between the water and the green.

Dogs of up to 30 pounds are allowed for a $50 per stay fee. A deposit of $150 per stay is also required. Any other pets are not permitted at We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort.

If you're going to We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort for a golf trip, make sure to visit some of the nearby attractions, which include the following:

  • Fort McDowell Adventures - 1 mile
  • Saguaro Lake -12 miles

General Questions

There are over 370 golf courses in Arizona. The cities of Scottsdale and Phoenix are home to most golf courses, as well as the most spectacular ones. Peak golf season in the state is from January to April, but players can still find their way to the fairways during the hotter summer months. Most days are dry and sunny, with cooler evenings. The following are some of the best golf courses to play in Arizona:

  • The Stadium Course: This golf course is famous for its dramatic features, including penal hazards and steep slopes. In his autobiography, Pete Dye wrote that the "featureless, barren acreage" was the "worst piece of land we ever started with" when designing the Stadium. The par-5 16th hole, known as San Andreas, features a deep greenside bunker that Dye said may be "the deepest greenside bunker this side of Mars." The Stadium has a design that favors no particular style of play, resulting in a truly balanced layout, and can be found at TPC Scottsdale.
  • The Faldo Course: Resembling a sand belt golf course from Australia with expansive fairways, large greens, and over 100 bunkers, this is a course that is not about forced carries or target challenges. Four sets of tee markers and a few hybrid configurations ensure that professional and ordinary golfers can find a properly challenging distance between 5,245 yards and 6,846 yards. With its gaping landing areas, the Faldo course is fun and playable. It offers players many options on tee shots and approach shots into greens that are angled from the fairways. The golf course is part of the Wildfire Club at JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa.
  • The Palmer Course: Located just northeast of the city of Phoenix, this picturesque golf course was designed by one of the most famed and praised golfers to ever play the game. The Palmer is a par 72 layout that opened in 1997, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape at every hole. The expansive fairways allow the golfer to remain in play even if they tend toward the occasional errant shot. With scenic flashed bunkering and curvy putting greens that emphasize what Arnold Palmer courses are most famous for, golfers can expect challenge and excitement. The golf course is also part of the Wildfire Club at JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa.
  • The Saguaro Course: The Saguaro Course at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club combines distinctive desert-golf features with the timeless traditions of links-style design. It's built for walking, which is extremely rare for the area, with greens situated near the next tee. The course follows the natural movement of the land, and the playing corridors are wider when compared to traditional desert design. The Saguaro course was designed by world-renowned architect duo Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw and ranked number one when it comes to public golf courses in Arizona. It can be played year-round and was built in 2006.

Naturally, there are numerous other notable and unique golf courses in Arizona where you can enjoy a round or two with your buddies. Other golf courses you may want to check out of you're in the area are:

  • The Cholla Course
  • The Pinnacle Course
  • The Monument Course
  • The O'odham Course
