Commonly Asked Questions
Reunion Resort
If you decide to have a vacation at the Reunion Resort & Golf Club, you'll be amazed at what this destination has to offer. Although the resort was built in 2004, it rapidly became one of the most luxurious and sought-after in Orlando. In addition to the three superb golf courses you can play at the Reunion Resort & Golf Club, there are many engaging amenities you and your friends or family can enjoy. This is a short presentation of the golf courses that will test your skill at the resort:
- Arnold Palmer: This golf course offers 6,916 yards of exciting play with up to 50 feet of elevation changes. Previously known as the Legacy course, it features soft undulations and is heavily bunkered. The back nine features some memorable holes, especially as you get closer to the end of your round, where the dramatic 18th awaits. Palmer’s course is as close to a resort-style course as Reunion offers, but it is very challenging. Five sets of tee markers ensure that players of various skill levels can find a manageable distance between 4,795 yards and 6,916 yards.
- Tom Watson: Featuring wide-open greens, rolling fairways, and strategically-placed bunkers, this golf course requires a well-calculated game. This is perhaps the most distinct course at the resort. The layout measures 7,154 yards from the back tees, but the golf course is more about strategy than length. Watson’s course has a parkland layout with a windswept appearance, framed by a wide variety of native grasses, azaleas, hibiscus, and other plants. The presence of elevated greens means golfers will need to fly their shots to the putting surfaces.
- Jack Nicklaus: The golf course architect has never been known to take it easy on players when designing courses. He notoriously has very difficult tracks, as they are narrow and long, and the greens have significant undulation. A signature of Nicklaus’ courses is a tame open hole – he lets you ease into the game. The first hole is a straightforward, shorter par 4. After that, you should expect the rest of the course to be more challenging. Compared to the other two at the resort, you’ll notice the narrower fairways, long yardage, and trickier greens.
In between rounds or at the end of the day, you can relish a delicious meal at one of the seven Reunion Resort & Golf Club restaurants. At Chophouse, fresh seafood and steaks are cooked daily, and the enhancements are made with fresh vegetables and bold spices, while at Eleven, you can dine in elegant style on the rooftop and enjoy a variety of small plates and craft cocktails. Furthermore, the resort has numerous amenities you can engage in besides playing golf, such as tennis courts, pickleball, bike rentals, swimming, bocce ball, and miniature golf.
Reunion Resort is just 28 miles away from Orlando International Airport and 54 miles from Orlando Sanford International Airport.
Guests not golfing are also welcome to ride during accompanying players’ rounds, based on cart availability and with an added fee of $30 per cart.
Yes, not only does the PGA Tour have an annual stop at Reunion Resort’s courses designed by PGA legends, but PGA professionals are also available to offer private first-class golf lessons here.
The 7th hole at Palmer Course is considered the most iconic and visually stunning of all of Reunion’s 36 holes. Another great hole is Nicklaus Course’s 16th, which is both challenging and appealing.
Reunion Resort is only 6 miles away from Disney World’s theme parks, which can be visited by shuttle service from the location; SeaWorld Orlando and Universal Orlando are 15 and 20 miles away from Reunion Resort. A wide selection of shopping malls and boutiques are also nearby, as well as Orlando’s ESPN complex.

Florida
Yes! Many Florida golf courses and resorts cater to families by offering:
- Junior golf programs and kid-friendly tee sets.
- Short courses and par-3 layouts for beginners.
- Golf academies with lessons for all ages.
- Resort amenities like pools, kids’ activities, and family-friendly restaurants.
Yes, most major courses and resorts in Florida offer premium rental clubs from brands like Callaway and TaylorMade. It’s recommended to reserve rentals in advance during peak season.
A Florida golf trip packing list should include:
- Breathable golf attire (moisture-wicking shirts, lightweight shorts/pants).
- Comfortable golf shoes with soft spikes.
- Plenty of golf balls (Florida courses have a lot of water hazards!).
- Sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses for sun protection.
- Rain gear and an umbrella, especially in the summer.
- Bug spray, particularly for early morning and late afternoon rounds.
How to play golf in Florida's heat:
- Play early in the morning to avoid peak temperatures.
- Stay hydrated and bring electrolyte drinks.
- Use plenty of sunscreen and wear light, breathable clothing.
- Bring extra gloves—humidity can make grips slippery.
Florida’s tropical climate means warm temperatures year-round, but golfers should prepare for:
- Afternoon thunderstorms in summer (common from June–September).
- Windier conditions in winter, especially near coastal courses.
- Cart-path-only rules during overseeding months (September–October).
October through May, when golf courses shut down in the northern area, are peak seasons in Florida. Still, January, February, and March are when you’ll find the best golf conditions in the state. It can get a little chilly once in a while, but the conditions are ideal for playing.
Mission Resort
Proper golf attire is required. Collared shirts, golf slacks or shorts, and soft-spike shoes are mandatory. Denim, tank tops, and gym shorts are not permitted on the courses or practice facilities.

Yes, both El Campeón and Las Colinas courses are open to the public, and tee times can be booked by non-resort guests. However, resort guests may receive priority access and preferred rates.
El Campeón, established in 1917, is one of the rare Florida courses that feature significant elevation changes (up to 85 feet), giving it a layout more reminiscent of courses in the Carolinas. The narrow fairways, water hazards, and strategic bunkering make it a true test of golf, rewarding shot-making and course management.
Mission Resort is home to two excellent golf courses:
- El Campeón – One of Florida’s oldest and most challenging courses, featuring dramatic elevation changes, undulating fairways, and tight greens that require accuracy and skill.
- Las Colinas – A more forgiving layout with wide fairways and picturesque rolling terrain, making it an enjoyable round for all skill levels.
Both courses provide a unique contrast in playing styles, making Mission Resort & Club a favorite among golf travelers.
As one of Florida's top golf resorts, Mission Resort has two championship courses. The golf experience is remarkable from the scenery – hills rolling and pitching, mature pine and magnolia trees towering, eagles and ospreys flying overhead. The terrain provides up to 85 ft. elevation changes and a peaceful ambiance void of fairway houses and condos. These are the golf courses you can play at Mission Resort:
- El Campeón Championship Course: Built in 1917 and designed by George O'Neil, this golf course is surrounded by natural Florida beauty. It's one of the South's oldest golf courses and blends unusual Central Florida elevation changes with features of traditional golf design, including breathtaking rolling fairways and undulating greens. The signature hole is the par 5, 17th hole, which features a long double dogleg that has more obstacles than some entire golf courses. El Campeón has garnered many national awards and is annually recognized as one of the top 25 golf courses in Florida. It's a challenge even for seasoned golfers.
- Las Colinas Championship Course: Designed by Gary Koch and built in 1992, this golf course offers quite a different challenge than El Campeón. It has an inland links design with generous, wide-open fairways, rolling hills, and large, undulating greens. The width of the fairways, the design of the extensive undulating greens, and the many tees at each hole give the course great versatility, meaning it's suitable for professional competitions. Still, it offers any player a pleasant, enjoyable, and affordable experience. Las Colinas was nominated by Golf Digest as "Best New Resort Course" upon opening.
In addition to golf, Mission Resort also offers several restaurants where you can dine with your friends or family in between golf rounds. Perhaps the most famous restaurant of the resort is El Conquistador, where you can have a memorable dining experience. Finally, the resort also has a spa, where you can relax after a rewarding golf round or at the end of the day.
