Enjoy a Relaxing Weekend Getaway at the Luxurious Trump National Doral Golf Club

, , ,

With a rich history dating back to 1962, Trump National Doral Golf Club is undoubtedly the premier golf resort destination in South Florida. It's home to four unique courses, including the famous Blue Monster, whose 18th hole was ranked as one of the most difficult among professional golf players. Every great name in golf has relished a moment of triumph on this world-class course, from Jack Nicklaus to Tiger Woods.

As one of the country's most iconic golf resorts, it was host to the PGA TOUR for 55 consecutive years. Trump National Doral Miami should be on the bucket list of every golf player, from beginners to veterans, as with the recent transformations of the Red Tiger, Golden Palm, and Silver Fox courses, this legendary tropical oasis sets the standard for resort and club golf in the southeastern United States.

Play a Round on Some of the Most Iconic Golf Courses in the Country

Trump National Doral Miami is a golfer's haven and one of the most popular golf destinations in America. It's home to 72 golf holes, perfect for your next vacation. The Blue Monster is the premier course of the resort, having been restored by Gil Hanse in 2014, but the other courses offer equally spectacular and memorable playing experiences. Doral's state-of-the-art courses have been played by all the best pros in the game, and you can, too, while visiting Miami. The following are some of the highlights of every golf course at the resort.

The Blue Monster

Designed by architect Gil Hanse in 1962, The Blue Monster is filled with strategically placed bunkers, greens, fairways, and unique water hazards, which create a course that is equally fun and challenging even for the most avid golfer. If you decide to play this course, you'll walk in famous footsteps on fairways where Mickelson, Norman, Woods, and Nicklaus have triumphed. The golf architect preserved the original design but updated the features and hazards that restored the bite that gave the course its name. Enjoy a palm-shaded, 7,608-yard palette of deep, brilliantly placed bunkers, lush Bermuda rough, cunningly contoured greens, and numerous breathtaking lakes.

If one hole encapsulated the spirit of The Blue Monster, then it's without a doubt the 18th. Often played into the wind, there's water all the way down the left side from tee to green, with palm trees and a beach bunker on that side of the fairway. The long, narrow green angles to the left, sloping away from the clubhouse, is a par finish that will be one of the best fours you will ever mark on a scorecard. "This is one of the most exciting projects that I have ever had the privilege to work on. The property itself, being all sand based, is very unusual and unique – and a tremendous asset for a golf course. On top of it all, its location, in the middle of Miami, is unprecedented," said Gil Hanse.

The Golden Palm

Glittering with sprawling lakes, distinctive bunkers, and plenty of trees, this golf course complements The Blue Monster with themes of re-contoured greens and dramatic water features, providing exciting risk-reward options and a memorable finishing hole. Named after the most commonly found trees on the golf course, The Golden Palm is known among golf players for its wide vistas, narrow tree-lined fairways, and sculpted greens, and, at the same time, a heavy rough. Because it has intricate details, The Golden Palm is a challenging golf course for players of all skill levels and has periodically hosted some of the greatest names in the sport.

The Golden Palm is also home to a unique bunker style with tight-cut, clean edges from the fairway around the back side of each bunker that encompasses some elements of difficulty that you might find in the Australian countryside. The attention, design, and quality of detail create a difficult golf course for both golf enthusiasts and professionals, making this course a true Championship course. While The Golden Palm has a lot of unique holes, the best is certainly the 18th. Playing 469 yards from the tips, golfers will have to hit a great tee shot through a narrow shoot. The fun begins on the second shot, where players will hit their approach shots into a green island surrounded by water.

The Red Tiger

Reminiscent of a classic New England-style course with different palm trees to give it that distinctive South Florida flair, this golf course sits on 120 acres. The spectacular Red Tiger course, named after the late great Jackie Gleason, may have just undergone the most dramatic change of any of the golf course renovations at Trump National Doral in Miami. It offers a fun and exciting challenge for the regular golfer but also a surprising test for the more experienced player. Although the goal of every tee shot should be to take advantage of the gently contoured fairways, the undulation of the small greens requires accurate shot making.

The condition of The Red Tiger is superb from tee to green. Water comes into play on most of the holes, and on some holes, there is water on both sides, making the landing areas tight. The greens roll perfectly. However, the golf course's small-scaled greens force players to approach their game with utmost attention to detail. Only 6,300 yards long, The Red Tiger shouldn't intimidate you with its length. It really favors the strategic golfer who values and understands the importance of shot placement. The course has narrow fairways, and right beside them, great masses of water that come into play on 14 of the 18 holes.

The Silver Fox

With pristine white sand bunkers and Celebration Bermuda grass blanketing the course, The Silver Fox is appealing and intimidating to the eye. Up to 50 bunkers are placed throughout the golf course, and playing is equally challenging and enchanting, making for a fun but difficult round. Water comes into play on the 16th of 18th holes on this sensational and demanding golf course. The Silver Fox offers picturesque views and skill-testing play for golfers at every skill level. Well-groomed fairways and greens keep the golf course difficult yet friendly, but the staff can offer tips and tricks for playing your best round.

The golf course is a terrific choice for your regular game or a new destination for you and your friends or family when visiting Miami. Designed by Jerry Pate and Bruce Devlin, the par-71 golf course features more topography than any other course at Trump National Doral. At 7,006 yards from the tips and with five tee boxes, The Silver Fox is acclaimed for its playability. Elevated tee boxes provide golf players with excellent views. The course is defined by numerous water hazards and tight fairways, making it challenging for even the most experienced player. Large, accessible greens give players a reprieve and allow for scoring chances.
