The course at Talamore Golf Resort was designed by the famous architects Rees Jones and Greg Muirhead in 1991. Many golfers rate it as their favorite layout in the Pinehurst area for its amazing combination of playability and challenge, dramatic elevation changes, and excellent playing conditions. When the golf course first opened, it was a media sensation, as it used llamas as caddies. The llamas have long been retired from those duties, but they can still be seen by the 14th hole.
Still, the course at Talamore Golf Resort doesn't need any gimmicks, as it's a unique and enticing layout in and of itself. The par-71 golf course can humble the very best players, and yet, with five sets of tee markers, it's also playable for less experienced golfers. Recent projects to remove trees, restore the greens to their original size and shape, and pare down excess bunkering have given the course even more luster. The highest and lowest points on the golf course vary by 150 feet.
