Myrtle Beach

How many golf courses are in Myrtle Beach and what are the most famous?

Myrtle Beach is home to approximately 90 golf courses, out of which the following are some of the most popular among players:

  • The Dunes Course: This Robert Trent Jones signature golf course has a rich history, as it was built in 1947. While the ocean-side dunes are mostly covered with turfgrass and mature trees now, when the famous architect designed the course, the property was mainly windswept sand dotted with lagoons. Lakes come into play on many holes, particularly on the 11th through 13th, dubbed the Alligator Alley.
  • TPC Myrtle Beach: The very challenging 18-hole, 72-par PGA Tour-caliber golf course features elevation changes, undulating greens, and numerous bunkers. It’s a course designed to treat golfers to the experience of what it must be like to be a PGA Tour. Tom Fazio designed the course with the intention of ranking it among the nation’s finest.
  • The Dye Course: Designed by the acclaimed Pete Dye, this golf course can be found at Barefoot Resort & Golf. It’s the highest-ranked of the four courses at the resort, featuring classic Dye bunker complexes with risk/reward opportunities for low-handicappers. The course stretches to nearly 7,350 yards and offers breathtaking views and challenging play for golfers at every skill level.

These are only some of Myrtle Beach’s exquisite and challenging golf courses. Other renowned courses can be found at:

  • Caledonia Golf & Fish Club
  • Tidewater Golf Club
  • Arrowhead Country Club
  • True Blue Golf Club
