Commonly Asked Questions

Sea Island Resort

What golf courses does Sea Island Resort have to offer?

Opened in 1929, Sea Island Resort has a rich history. Today, it is home to three spectacular golf courses:

  • The Seaside Course: This golf course has by far the most dramatic layout and is periodically ranked among the top 100 courses nationwide. It features beautifully and carefully manicured fairways and greens, sweeping dunes mixed with native grasses, wildflowers, and bunkers. The Seaside is an ocean-side links course that combines a picturesque natural setting with a golf course that is both challenging and fun. It is the most revered course at the resort and is featured on the PGA Tour's fall series of venues. The stunning coastal property has many water hazards and some sublime views of the Atlantic Ocean.
  • The Plantation Course: The golf course has a classic design that has some traditional features and character, such as bulkheads, railroad ties, the Principal's Nose, and a punch bowl green. Along with the neighboring Seaside Course, it is the home of the PGA Tour's RSM Classic. Walter Travis' 1928 original nine-hole course was completely redesigned by Davis and Mark Love in 2019.
  • The Retreat Course: Although geographically set apart from the other two courses, this course should not be overlooked. The Retreat course offers terrific views and challenging play for golfers of any skill level. Well-groomed fairways and greens keep it difficult yet friendly. When Davis Love III and his brother, Mark, began renovating the Retreat Course in 2000, they knew they had a difficult task. Blending the players' preferences from the previous design, they created a dramatic, breathtaking design. The green complexes are a combination of slope, sand bunkers, and undulations, creating a masterful test.

Sea Island Resort should be on the bucket list of every golf enthusiast, from beginners to veterans, as playing the courses it is home to will be a memorable experience that will make you want to return.
